This week: John Newman performed to an ecstatic crowd.
John Newman owned the stage at Mallorca Rocks on Tuesday night. As soon as he opened his set the house went wild and stayed in that state for the entire gig. The BRITS nominee shot to fame after writing and singing on two of the biggest dance tracks in years, and his debut solo single “Love me again” hit the Number One spot.
Next up for the Tuesday night session of live gigs is one of the biggest for the season, Ms Lily Allen. Lily is undeniably one of Britain’s most provocative pop stars and as widely reported, it was one fateful summer in Ibiza that put Lily Allen on her path to super-stardom. At just 15, Lily lied to her parents to stay on in Ibiza after a family holiday, got herself a job, admittedly went wild and met her first manager George Lamb along the way. A record deal followed and critically acclaimed debut album Alright Still (2006) sold 2.6 million copies and spawned huge infectious hits like Smile and LDN. This success put Lily on the map as well as on the Pyramid stage at Glastonbury. Second album It’s Not Me It’s You chalked up the same impressive sales and now Lily Allen is back as brilliantly bold as ever with her third album Sheezus (released 5th May). This will be a seminal moment of the summer for Lily Allen and for the crowd who get to see a hugely anticipated headline show by one the UK’s most compelling stars, in the intimate courtyard stage setting of the Rocks Hotel. Lily Allen said: ‘I’m really looking forward to performing at Mallorca Rocks and Ibiza Rocks in June. Ibiza was my home for a summer when I was a teenager, and I’ve always loved going there. I’m certain that these two shows will be a highlight in my summer schedule.’
